ADVOCACY |
| |
AYISE considers itself an advocacy organisation. As such,
AYISE has been involved in a number advocacy initiatives because we
believe that some of the problems affecting our society are as a
result of poor government policies, lack of policies or lack of
implementation of policies. Further, we also believe that lack of a
properly functioning legislative environment contributes to some of
the social and economic problems affecting our communities. Poor decisions taken by our leaders can exacerbate some of the
problems that society is confronting today. |
With this in mind AYISE periodically
launches advocacy efforts aimed at:
- improving policy and legal framework
- developing new policies and legislation
- motivating those entrusted with the implementation of policies
and laws
|
|
Some of our previous campaigns include the:
- Child Care, Justice and Protection Bill
- National Registration Bill
- Access to Information Legislation
- Wills, Inheritance and [widow] Protection Bill
- Youth Enterprise Development Fund mobilisation
- Youth Governance project in Mulanje
- Stop Child Abuse Campaign
- Prevention of Domestic Violence Law - including awareness raising among legal professionals
- Child and Young People’s Amendment Bill
- No to Third Term Campaign
- Pass the National Budget Campaign
- No to the Impeachment Campaign
- Make Poverty History Campaign
- Stop Global Warming Campaign
- Child Registration Bill
- Reinstate the National Youth Council
- Awareness campaign on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) in Malawi
|
| Our advocacy work is by its very nature an ever changing situation. AYISE always acts where and when it can to address injustices and to steer Malawi in a direction which will lead to sustainable and fair development and improvement. |
